Apply online for chance to buy Canadian-built Ford GT
The order books are open on the all-new Ford GT, but you better be prepared to get in line.
Limited to just 250 units per year, the Markham, Ont.-built GT is sure to be a hot commodity, and Ford is responding by putting owners through an application process to vet potential owners of the more-than $500,000 super car.
It doesn't cost anything to apply and it's not a contest, according to Ford—though it's easy to interpret the process as one.
Ford said in a statement that "(c)onsideration will be given to a variety of factors, including loyal Ford customers and current Ford GT owners."
Aside from asking for video and photo links to better describe your "style" and help "show why you would be a good GT owner," the application process includes questions about whether you own or have owned a previous-generation Ford GT, whether you currently own a Ford product, and whether you or your company uses Ford products.
Other questions include whether you or your company is a Ford supplier or "strategic alliance member," and whether you are a motorsport enthusiast, car collector or "influencer of public opinion."
Built by Multimatic, the Ford GT's initial ordering period will cover the first two years of production totaling 500 vehicles.
The first round of applications closes May 12.
