This Porsche 959 Has Been Updated

Currently, the Holy Supercar Triumvirate is the McLaren P1, the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder. These three cars offer new a level of performance and make fans drool.

In the 90s however, the rivalry was fierce between the Ferrari F40 and the Porsche 959. While they were very similar in terms of performance, they employed very different techniques to do it: the F40 was simple, used a rear-wheel drive layout and lightweight materials to achieve maximum performance. The Porsche was the exact opposite: it was filled to the brim with technologies like four-wheel drive, an active suspension and Kevlar body panels.

The Porsche 959 wasn’t originally imported in North America; however, an importer named Canepa took it upon himself to make these rare beauties available here.

Canepa never stopped working and improving the 959, even when the car stopped being produced. Today, the tuner unveiled the latest generation of this Porsche, the Generation III.

Thanks to optimisations in the engine bay, this 959 has 763 horsepower and 635 pound-feet of torque. The stock suspension also got upgraded with titanium shocks. Performance is brought up to modern standards: the 959 Generation III goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds and hits 370 km/h.
