A Greener Porsche Panamera

PARIS, France – The recently revamped Porsche Panamera now features a slicker exterior, better balanced proportions in the rear and an enhanced interior presentation. That sums up the major changes made to this sedan from Stuttgart.

In Canada, two drivetrains will be available. The 4S version will be equipped with a twin-turbo, 2.9-litre V6 offering 440 horsepower, while the Turbo will feature a twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 with 550 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid was also updated and now comes to us noticeably improved.

The 2017 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is outfitted with a twin-turbo, 2.9-litre V6 paired with an electric motor. Combined, they deliver 462 horsepower, which is almost as much as the 911 Turbo’s output. Now imagine 516 lb.-ft. of torque. Its cold starts are sure to be impressive. The manufacturer is already boasting a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds thanks to its overboost function.

Despite all this potential, its expected fuel economy is 2.5 L/100 km, according to European inspection standards. What’s more, since it can be recharged, you can travel 50 km in electric mode only (in optimal conditions, obviously!).

This Porsche was presented at the Paris Motor Show because it’s very popular in France. In the luxury sport sedan category, nearly 30% of sales belong to the Panamera S E-Hybrid. Yet, this vehicle only claims 9% in its category worldwide. More than 5000 Porsches were sold in France in 2015, marking a 20% increase. Pretty impressive! Two-thirds of these sales are four-door sport models.

The new plug-in 2017 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will be making its North American debut soon.
