Lynk & Co, Soon to Arrive in North America?

If you don't know who Geely is, here is a quick summary: they are one of the biggest Chinese manufacturers and they build not only cars, but also motorcycles as well as engines and transmissions for others car companies. In 2010, the manufacturer gained international notoriety when they bought Volvo. Here's an interesting fact: they also build the TX4, that famous London taxicab.

Now, it seems that Geely wants to launch a new brand: after the worldwide success of Volvo, they want to get into the affordable vehicle segment. They will attempt to do this with Lynk & Co.

Lynk & Co will launch in Geely's home market, China. If it goes well, the brand may then appear in Europe... and later, in North America.

The first model to bear the Lynk & Co name will be an SUV (shocking, I know). According to what we can gather, it will use Volvo's CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, which will underpin the upcoming Volvo 40 Series. We can then expect a vehicle as well-made as Volvo's current products, but with a lower price point.
