2017 Chevrolet Cruze: We’re Driving it This Week
The Car Guide is headed to Motor City (um, Detroit) to slip behind the wheel of the new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback. After the complete redesign of the Cruze sedan in 2016, GM’s Bow-tie brand will be adding a more versatile compact car to their product range, which should be a popular choice in the Canadian market.
A hatchback version of the Cruze actually isn’t new, as the previous-generation model did include a five-door variant—and a stylish wagon—but it wasn’t sold in North America. The 2017 Cruze Hatchback will be pretty similar to the sedan, although its overall length is shorter due to the absence of a trunk. However, after holding the rear seatbacks, the five-door Cruze will offer a cargo space of up to 1336 litres.

As is the case with the sedan, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback will be equipped with a turbocharged, 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine good for 153 horsepower. Yet unlike the sedan, there will be no price-leading L and LS trim levels, so no hatchback will be priced under $20K.
