A Tesla Model S P100D Becomes the Fastest Stock Sedan

I won’t teach you anything by telling you that Tesla builds insanely quick cars. The immediate torque of an electric motor combined with all-wheel drive enables the sedan to go from 0 to 100 km/h fast enough to make more than one fuel-powered vehicle jealous.

With the arrival of the P100D, we were all wondering just how fast this Tesla could be. Dragtimes found two owners willing to push their car to the limit on a dragstrip. Also, they brought a large diesel generator to make sure both Teslas would be fully charged (which sort of defeats the environmental purpose of those vehicles, but we aren’t here here for that!).

As we can see in the above video, the P100D embarrasses many sports cars, like a Ford Mustang Shelby and a Chevrolet Camaro. During one of those runs, one Tesla recorded a time of 10.76 seconds and a top speed of 197 km/h. This is fast enough to make it the fastest stock sedan currently on sale.

Among the competitors that could challenge the Tesla, there is the upcoming Mercedes-AMG E 63 S, which may stand a chance… Aside from that, we will have to see what the next upgrade to the Charger SRT Hellcat will bring.
