The Car Guide and Motoring TV Rack up More Awards

Every year during the AJAC’s Canadian Car of the Year test event, a bunch of journalists from across Canada gather for an intense week of driving of the year’s new or heavily redesigned vehicles.

It’s also a time when we get dressed up for the annual Journalism Awards banquet. And during that evening, both The Car Guide and Motoring TV walked away with some hardware.

Now in its 30th season on TSN, Motoring TV received two Integrated Automotive Video Journalism Awards. The 2 Minute Test Drive with Russ Bond, which featured a Toyota Prius competing with NASCAR race vehicles on a track, was proclaimed the winner in the Best Broadcast Video category. The category runner-up was handed to Brad Diamond for his feature called “A Day in the Life of a Paramedic.”

Motoring TV is a regular winner during the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada Journalism Awards ceremony, and have brought home at least one trophy for the fourth year in a row.

Meanwhile, The Car Guide was the runner-up for the Best Web Design Award Presented by Kia Canada, which honours the skill and creativity of the layout/graphic artists, and any forethought that went into gathering the design elements. In addition, Le Guide de l’auto 2017 hard-cover buyer’s guide sold in Quebec was the runner-up for the Best Print Design Award. Last year, The Car Guide and Le Guide de l’auto 2016 ranked first in both categories.

Last but not least, our colleague and seasoned journalist Marc Lachapelle received the runner-up plaque in the Wakefield Castrol Award for Automotive Writing – Vehicle Testing. The independent panel of judges were pleased with his review of the Tesla Model S P90D.
