Christmas Gift Ideas: Leaf Blowers – Even in Winter

Published on December 12, 2016 in Blog by Marc-André Gauthier

Although autumn will soon give way to winter, a leaf blower can be a terrific Christmas gift for several reasons.

Firstly, any car enthusiast will be thrilled to receive a leaf blower. These devices can be used to dry a car after a good washing and, more importantly, to clear snow off a vehicle in short order. Of course, with a nod to the environment, we recommend buying an electric blower. You don't want to replace good old-fashioned elbow grease with gasoline!

I gave a leaf blower as a gift last year, and here are my conclusions:

For starters, as you might suspect, not all blowers are created equal. You can get a cordless electric leaf blower for $100, but it will likely be disappointing. Their battery life is a mere 15 minutes and their power is insufficient. After all, 15 minutes is barely enough to dry the tires and wheels, much less the entire car. In winter, you can clear snow with it, but only the lightest, fluffiest kind.

For comparison’s sake, and to be thorough, a gas-powered leaf blower will work forever provided you keep the small tank filled and maintain the motor. Its superior power helps you dry the car faster and remove snow with ease.

If you’re planning on buying a leaf blower, shop around and compare the output of the different available models. There are some very powerful blowers out there, but they tend to be expensive, so do your homework before you buy!
