The Car Guide in Los Angeles: more SUVs than ever!
The North-American auto show season in now under way! As is the case each year, it starts with a bang in magnificent Los Angeles, Southern California. And this year, a lot of SUVs will be unveiled.
First off, Ford is presenting its new subcompact SUV, the EcoSport. This stubby utility vehicle, equipped with efficient engines and versatile cockpit will try to stand out in this still-young market segment, and a very popular one in Canada.
Also, Toyota is unveiling the C-HR, a high-riding SUV with a coupe-like profile. Essentially, it’s a sporty subcompact model, a little like the Mazda CX-3. The C-HR will probably boast a 2.0-litre engine, and we’ll bet that a CVT automatic will be standard. Like the Toyota RAV4, it will be available with front- and all-wheel drivetrains.
Rumours were circling around regarding a reveal of the RX-9, but Mazda will be presenting an improved CX-5 compact SUV, including new styling. Volkswagen will bring their new seven-passenger SUV called the Atlas, as well Chevrolet with the 2018 Equinox. Jeep will be unveiling its new Compass, which looks like a miniature Cherokee.
A vehicle that’s already the most drawing attention is without a doubt the Jaguar I-PACE Concept. This fully electric SUV from Jaguar, which will enter production in 2018, promises 400 horsepower and a driving range of more than 320 km. It may not be a Tesla Model X P100D, but in terms of pricing, we’re expecting a rival to the Model X 75D, so it’s pretty interesting.
Otherwise, Alfa Romeo will seek to increase its market share in the United States with more than just niche products and sports cars, and should unveil an SUV. Yes, an Alfa Romeo utility vehicle.
Many other new products will be uncovered in Los Angeles as well, so keep checking The Car Guide in the next few days.
