Rolls-Royce Reveals its SUV

The English brand has been working on a utility vehicle—their first ever—for more than a year now, and it has just published a couple of teaser shots of this upcoming luxury mastodon.

Sure, the vehicle is wrapped in camouflage that hides the bodywork’s lines and creases, but we can clearly see the utter squareness of this SUV and its undeniably Rolls front fascia. An all-new, all-aluminum platform is also in development, which will serve as the basis for the brand’s future models, including the Phantom VIII sedan, which is also in preparation.

For now, the SUV is called Project Cullinan and will be equipped with an all-wheel drivetrain, another first for Rolls-Royce. The automaker will now evaluate the vehicle in extreme weather conditions, first in the Arctic Circle, followed by the desert heat of the Middle East.

No details yet regarding its powertrain, but we’re excepting nothing less than a twin-turbo V8 or V12, with more than 600 horsepower to claim superiority over the Bentley Bentayga that is now on sale. And like the latter, with Project Cullinan, the brand promises to offer the most luxurious and expensive luxury utility vehicle on the market.

The Rolls-Royce SUV should arrive on the market sometime in 2018.
