Geely Denies Rolls Royce Mimicry

Chinese car companies are well known for their oftentimes obvious mimicry of better known brands, with the best brands being the most often copied. And of course, Rolls Royce is truly the crème de la crème of luxury motorcars, so it comes as no surprise that Geely, one of China’s larger manufacturers, has opted to make their own version of Rolls Royce’s very desirable Phantom.

Called the GE, the large luxury sedan sports a nearly identical looking body, with the same trademark Rolls Royce grille crowning a long, tapering hood. Inside, a glass partition separates the front seats from the rear seat; as in singular. Costing far less than it’s English counterpart, the Geely apparently gives up some seating capacity, as the “luxurious” Chinese replicar sports just three seating positions.

As an obvious knock-off, critics suspect Rolls Royce will follow through on their threats of legal action to prevent the GE’s production.
