2018 Mercedes-AMG GT: We’re Driving it on the Track This Week!

After walking several kilometres on the vast floor of the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany, The Car Guide is now heading over to the region of Paderborn, in order to slip behind the wheel of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT.

To be more precise, the Canadian market will get six variants of the GT. The Coupe will be offered in base, S, C and R trims, while the Roadster will be available in S and C trims.

No family squabbling here, as every GT is equipped with a dry-sump, twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8, a rear-wheel drivetrain and a dual-clutch, seven-speed automatic gearbox. However, the output levels increase incrementally with each version: 476 horsepower for the GT, 522 for the GT S, 557 for the GT C and 585 for the GT R. Tough choice.

Anyways, we’ll be testing these rocketships out at the Bilster Berg raceway, in the city of Bad Driburg. It’s a wonderful track with elevations, dips and plenty of twisties to skilfully master. We should also get to drive the cars on the open road in order to evaluate their comfort and everyday user friendliness.

Don’t miss our full report on the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT early next week.
