Jaguar Land Rover Officialises SVA, SVR and SVX Model Designations
Le British manufacturer presented number of cars and trucks at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and among them are the 2018 Range Rover SVAutobiography, the 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR as well as the Land Rover Discovery SVX.
These three vehicles are significant, because together on the same stage, they officialise the creation of three sub-brands at Jaguar Land Rover, all conceived by their Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. In a nutshell, SVA represents the most luxurious variants, SVR the sportiest and SVX the most off-road capable.

The 2018 Range Rover SVAutobiography is equipped with rear doors that close at the push of a button, executive-class rear seats that can recline up to 40 degrees as well as a refrigerated compartment that can hold two 750-ml bottles and two glasses. This version of the long-wheelbase Range Rover gets a uniquely styled grille and other specific trim details. The SVAutobiography is equipped with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that develops 557 horsepower and comes with a $233,000 MSRP in Canada.
The 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR relies on a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that belts our 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. According to the manufacturer, it’s their fastest SUV built so far, with a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds. It’s available in Canada with a starting MSPR of $132,000.
The Land Rover Discovery SVX, initially unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show back in September, is the ultimate Discovery for heading off the beaten path. Obviously, all Land Rover models boast undeniable off-road capabilities, but this SVX variant receives higher ground clearance, improved wheel articulation, larger all-terrain tires and a reprogrammed Terrain Response 2 all-wheel drive system. It’s also equipped with a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that produces 525 horsepower. The Discovery SVX will be assembled by hand starting in 2018 by the SVO division.
Also on display at the Jaguar Land Rover stand in Los Angeles is the hot-blooded, 592-hp Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the 2018 Jaguar E-PACE subcompact SUV, the full-size 2018 Jaguar XJR575 as well as the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake midsize wagon. Sadly, the latter won’t be available in Canada.
