2019 Volkswagen Jetta: Camouflage is a Game We All Like to Play
This week, we're headed to the Arizona Proving Grounds in Maricopa, Arizona for a preview of the seventh-generation 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. Unlike typical first drives, this one is slightly different, as the car will be completely camouflaged.
Volkswagen's plan is to reveal the full look of its new Jetta at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) this January in Detroit. But beforehand, we get to drive a prototype version around its proving grounds that features a handling course and high-speed oval.

Back in 2010, the Jetta took on a larger size and lower price tag in order to compete in volume with the likes of the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra and Toyota Corolla. Seven years later, one of its true bread-and-butter vehicles is in need of a major makeover, both inside and out, with sales starting to show. At this point, we can only assume that it will be built off of its MQB scalable platform and possess a more slicked-back look, but more information should be coming your way shortly.
With Volkswagen in the middle of re-branding its own image, a new Jetta to be released in early 2019 will come at an opportune time for the company and its customers.
