An Important Recall for Ram 1500 and Ram HD Pickups

Right before the Holiday break, Transport Canada published a recall regarding the Ram 1500 as well as all the Ram HD variants.

On vehicles equipped with a steering column gear shifter, the brake transmission shift interlock feature may become inoperative. If that happens, the shifter can be moved out of the park (P) position without having the press the brake pedal, or even having the key in the ignition. Obviously, there is a risk that the vehicle could move unexpectedly, causing a crash and/or injury.

Right now, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles hasn’t determined what the solution would be to fix the problem.

Affected vehicles are the Ram 1500 (model years 2009 to 2017), Ram 2500 (2010 to 2017), Ram 3500 (2010 to 2017), Ram 4500 (2011 to 2017) and Ram 5500 (2011 to 2017) trucks. In Canada, about 290,200 units are concerned by this recall.

Owners of these vehicles can contact FCA Canada by phone at 1-800-465-2001 or visit FCA’s website to check if their Ram pickup is affected by the recall.
