2019 Audi A6 Unveiled!

After seven years on the Canadian market in its current form, Audi’s midsize sedan will benefit from a full redesign, and will share many components with the 2019 Audi A7, also new.

The 2019 Audi A6’s architecture is obviously more rigid, and more aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of just 0.24. The car’s body is seven millimetres longer, twelve millimetres wider and its roofline is higher by two millimetres. Its cockpit is more spacious than before, notably in regards to rear-seat legroom, while the trunk’s volume remains unchanged at 530 litres (according to European calculations), but with a wider opening to accommodate two golf bags. A cockpit fragrance diffuser, a panoramic sunroof as well as ventilated and massaging seats are available, too.

The MMI multimedia system gets more sophisticated with two centre stack screens. The top one measures 10.1 inches, while the bottom one, which serves to set climate control and convenience functions, measures 8.6 inches. Head-up display, a fully digital, 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit display as well as a Bang & Olufsen surround sound system are also available.

Two powertrains will be available at launch, although only one will likely be offered on the Canadian market. It’s a turbocharged, 3.0-litre six cylinder that develops 340 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This engine is matched to a seven-speed S tronic automatic gearbox, and includes a mild hybrid system that saves up to 0.7 L/100 km of fuel in light driving conditions. The other engine is a 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel six that will be reserved for other markets, including Europe.

No surprise here, the quattro all-wheel drive system will be standard, but the 2019 Audi A6 benefits from a four-wheel steering system that, according to the manufacturer, makes the car more dynamic at higher speeds and more manoeuvrable at slower velocities. In general, the A6 is said to offer a sportier drive.

The new 2019 Audi A6 will be on sale in Europe starting in June, and will reach other markets later in 2018. The even sportier Audi S6 should follow not too long thereafter.
