Woodward Dream Cruise: Classic Cars and New Vehicle Reveal
The Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit has become the world's largest one-day automotive event, drawing close to 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars each year.
Those stats are according to the organizers, but even if they are a little off, the whole event seems like an unthinkable achievement, considering it began back in 1995 as a fundraiser for a soccer field in the suburb of Ferndale, north of Detroit. Detroit isn't called the Motor City for nothing, and they embraced the “if you build it, they will come” motto.

Spectators over a 16-mile (26-kilometre) stretch across Woodward Avenue, encompassing nine different metropolitan Detroit communities, can check out a host of modern and vintage muscle cars, custom gems, street rods and collector vehicles representing a variety of automakers.
As the title sponsor of the Woodward Dream Cruise and lone automaker partner, Ford naturally plays a big role highlighted by the 20th anniversary of Mustang Alley at the corner of 9 Mile and Woodward in Ferndale. The Mustang Alley display will feature 1000-plus Mustangs including Ford's latest vehicle—the Mustang Bullitt that was just released honouring the 50th anniversary of the 1968 movie featuring Steve McQueen. In addition, Ford will show off an exclusive Kona Blue Mustang Bullitt, to be raffled off in November in support of juvenile diabetes research.
If that wasn't enough, Ford is planning to make an announcement in regards to the reveal of a new production vehicle. We have no clue what this entails, but we surely will have a report for you, as well as some unique stories and pictures as we talk to both visitors and Ford executives.
