2019 Audi RS Q3: On its Way to North America

The RS variant of the second-generation Q3 is apparently headed over to North America, and will pack the 400-horsepower, 2.5-litre turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine lifted from the TT RS and the RS 3. It will be the first high-performance variant of the Q3 available on our shores, as the previous RS Q3 was only sold in Europe.

We came away very impressed from our first drive of the second-generation Audi Q3, and had the opportunity to drive the first RS Q3 over in Europe a few years ago. This leads us to believe that performance enthusiasts who have to compromise and own an SUV for family reasons will be pleased to know that a faster and more dynamic variant of the new Q3 is apparently on its way over here.

The RS Q3, done up in the requisite camouflage paint job, has been seen undergoing testing and fine-tuning on the famed Nurburgring and, as you can see and hear, it doesn’t seem to mind being hustled around on this most challenging circuit…
