Porsche Launches the Panamera GTS

Like death and taxes, the arrival of the GTS edition for the second-generation Panamera line was a certainty, and we can expect one for the recently redesigned Cayenne as well at some point.

The 2019 Porsche Panamera GTS and GTS Sport Turismo offer a sportier appearance, unique suspension settings and an engine output that’s hierarchically higher than the 4S, but lower than the Turbo. Its twin-turbo, 4.0-litre V8 belts out 453 horsepower—13 more than in the 4S—and 457 pound-feet of torque, connected to an eight-speed PDK automatic and all-wheel drive. With the Sport Chrono package added to the car, the company claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 292 km/h with the sedan, 289 km/h with the Sport Turismo.

The GTS editions also feature an adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, a 10-mm ride height drop, recalibrated Porsche Active Suspension Management as well as larger brake discs—390 mm up front and 365 mm at the rear.

A GTS can be distinguished by its blacked-out front end, black lower-body trim at the rear as well as dark styling elements, while 20-inch Panamera Design alloy wheels are thrown in for good measure. Inside, the cars get black Alcantara and aluminum trim, a heated multifunction steering wheel and the Connect Plus module as standard.

The 2019 Porsche Panamera GTS will list for $146,200 before freight and delivery charges, while the GTS Sport Turismo will start at $153,300. However, the two cars won’t arrive in Canada before the summer of 2019.

The Car Guide will be heading to Barhain this week in order to drive the 2019 Porsche Panamera GTS, so stay tuned!
