Five Things to Know About the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette

Published on December 18, 2018 in Previews by Michel Deslauriers

Chevy’s flagship sports car hasn’t changed much since the seventh-generation car was introduced for the 2014 model year, but some trim levels have been added to the Corvette range over time.

In 2019, the monstrous Corvette ZR1 is back, and is more powerful and faster than ever. However, the more-affordable variants of the sports car are just as enticing for their bang-for-the-buck factor. Here are some crunchy details about the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette.

A Cavalry of 755 Horsepower

A veritable track beast, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 relies on a supercharged 6.2-litre V8—code name LT5—that receives a more efficient compressor (with a 52% increase in displacement compared than the Corvette Z06’s blower) and a new dual-injection system. This V8 produces an astounding 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque!

The Corvette ZR1 is also equipped with aerodynamic add-ons to its bodywork in order to increase downforce as well as extra radiators to keep the engine cool. The ZR1 retails from $138,595 before freight and delivery charges.

Coupe or Convertible for All Trim Levels

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette is obviously available in coupe and convertible body styles. However, buyers can choose one of the two in any trim level, whether it’s the base Stingray—with or without the Z51 sport suspension—or the subsequent Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1 variants.

Always Under the Sun

The coupe features a removable roof panel that can be stored in the trunk, while the convertible’s power-folding fabric trop can be lowered or raised on a matter of seconds, even while the car is travelling at a speed of up to 50 km/h. In short, no matter which version of the Corvette we choose, we’ll always get to catch some sunrays.

Connectivity Galore

the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette is equipped with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Siri Eyes Free voice command and on-board Wi-Fi hotspot (data package required). A surround sound system and navigation are available as options, as is a Performance Data Recorder.

Zero to 100 km/h in Less than Four Seconds

With an output ranging from 455 to 755 horsepower, including the 650-hp Z06, all versions of the Corvette are very fast. Even the base Stingray can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds, while the ZR1 accomplishes the same sprint in as little as 2.85 seconds. Not bad for a sports car that carries a base price of $65,095 before freight and delivery charges!
