Infiniti Will Unveil an Electric SUV in Detroit

After the Jaguar I-PACE, the Hyundai Kona electric and Volkswagen’s latest I.D. announcement, it seems mainstream carmakers are finally dishing out their battery-powered cars. It’s now Infiniti’s turn, which’ll pull the drape off its own Tesla fighter next month.

A Montreal Look

As we’re writing this, we don’t have a whole lot of information about Infiniti’s all-new electrified SUV, but we do its design was inspired by the Q Inspiration concept that was also unveiled in Detroit earlier this year.

That vehicle had been penned by Karim Habib, the designer from Montreal who cut his teeth over at BMW and has been at Infiniti since last year. He’s the guy who drew the Infiniti QX50 as well as the concept car you see here.

The idea of an all-electric vehicle at Infiniti is indeed interesting, because it’ll mark the first product of the kind to ever be offered by the carmaker. As a matter of fact, Infiniti claims that by 2021, all of its vehicles will integrate some form of electrification. That’s also the year this concept car will see production.

We’ll get more information about this intriguing new vehicle as we’ll approach the Detroit auto show next month, so stay tuned for all the details.
