Just as the federal government announced the details of its new rebate program for electrified vehicles, Kia Canada is confirming the admissibility of its two new models by revealing their pricing structure.

In both cases, the Korean brand specifies a maximum driving range of 383 kilometres on a full charge. In these two models, we find an electric motor that produces 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque as well as a 64-kWh battery pack.

The 2019 Kia Niro EV, classified as a crossover utility vehicle, will retail from $44,995, before freight and delivery charges, for the base EX trim level. The Niro EV SX Touring will cost $53,995.

The 2020 Kia Soul EV, classified as a car, is slightly more affordable with a base MSRP of $42,595 for the Premium variant, before freight and delivery charges, while the Soul EV Limited will be available from $51,595.

In all four cases, buyers in Canada will enjoy a federal rebate of up to $5,000, while Quebec residents will benefit from an additional rebate of up to $8,000 and British Columbia residents will get a before-tax rebate of up to $5,000.

The 2019 Kia Niro EV and the 2020 Kia Soul EV are now on sale. However, it’s worth nothing that the federal rebate will apply only to vehicles sold or leased starting May 1, 2019.
