Ford v. Ferrari Movie to Hit Theatres November 15

In 1966 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford famously and shockingly swept the podium with the legendary GT40 Mk II and in the process embarrassed Ferrari, which not only had dominated the race in previous years, but also blocked a takeover attempt by Henry Ford II in 1963.

More than 50 years later, these events will be depicted in a movie fans have been anticipating for a long time.

Ford v. Ferrari will light up the big screen on November 15, 2019, Walt Disney Studios announced this week following the recent acquisition of the Fox film studios.

Christian Bale will star as Ken Miles, the Shelby test driver and racer who helped develop the GT40 Mk II, while Matt Damon—not Tom Cruise as originally planned—will portray Carroll Shelby.

Directed by James Mangold (Logan), Ford v. Ferrari will use different source material than A.J. Baime's book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans, which will be adapted into an upcoming TV series.

You can bet there’s Oscar potential in that movie. We’re still awaiting the official trailer. In the meantime, feel free to read everything we have on the modern-day Ford GT.
