Lustworthy Ferrari 458 Italia Shown

Typically, automakers aim for a renewal cycle of three to five years. Some stick to this plan more stringently than others; like Honda, who introduces a new or updated version of their model line with incredible efficiency.

And then there are the exotics. Ferrari obviously tries to update their model line as frequently as possible, but with production runs that are just a few thousand vehicles long at most, there isn’t nearly the same pressure to replace an aging automobile. Regardless of age, people will buy anything from Maranello. But with the entry level F430 nearing aging status and being one of the most popular vehicles ever produced by Ferrari, replacing it and maintaining the excitement surrounding the V8-powered Ferrari is of the utmost importance.

So, with that in mind, feast your eyes upon this: the glorious Ferrari 458 Italia. Powered by a new 4.5 litre V8 mounted amidship, the 458 rockets to 100 kilometres per hour in just 3.4 seconds, a product of the 562 horsepower and 398 ft-lbs of torque produced. Weighing just 3,042 pounds, the V8 revs to an amazing 9,000 rpm. Top out in sixth gear and you’ll be doing over 200 miles per hour in the first production Ferrari capable of achieving that figure.
