How often do you see a lawn tractor set a Guinness World Record? Honda’s Mean Mower V2 did just that, securing the title of the fastest acceleration for a lawnmower.

With stunt driver, kart and car racer Jess Hawkins behind the wheel, the feat was achieved at the Dekra Lausitzring near Dresden, Germany, on May 6th 2019. Not only did the Mean Mower V2 averaged 6.29 seconds for its two runs from 0-100 mph (160 km/h), it also recorded an incredible top speed of 150.99 mph (241.4 km/h).

As well as hitting such a blistering straight-line speed to set the new record, the Honda Mean Mower V2 also had to demonstrate that it could still cut grass, which it does thanks to slight revisions to the cutter deck to house the chain driving the rear tires and the two batteries required to power electric motors which spin carbon fibre blades to mow.

Unveiled last summer, Mean Mower V2 packs almost double the power of the original Mean Mower. Based on a Honda HF 2622 lawn tractor, it uses a 999cc four-cylinder engine taken from Honda’s high-performing CBR1000RR Fireblade SP motorcycle to produce 189 horsepower at 13,000 rpm.

You just have to see it to believe it:
