Refreshed 2020 Cadillac XT5 Gets a New Turbo Engine

Cadillac has just introduced its slightly refreshed XT5 crossover, which borrows many design cues from the XT4 and XT6. It represents the model’s mid-cycle update.

The biggest change can be found under the hood, where a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine motivates the Luxury and Premium Luxury models. It generates 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

The naturally aspirated 3.6-litre V6, which used to be the only engine option with the XT5, will be available in Premium Luxury trim and standard in Sport trim. The latter is new for 2020. Look for 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque here.

Whichever engine you choose, the transmission is a nine-speed automatic. And for now, there is no word on the possibility of adding the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.

In addition to offering 18-inch alloy wheels as standard, Cadillac says it refined the XT5's interior. The Sport variant stands out with 20-inch wheels and a dual-clutch all-wheel drive system.

Pricing for the 2020 Cadillac XT5 has yet to be disclosed. Keep in mind this is the luxury brand’s best-selling vehicle globally.
