2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Adds 717-Hp Daytona Edition

After focusing on the Challenger for the past couple of years, Dodge is now busy launching new versions and special editions of its four-door muscle car.

We’ve already seen the black-heavy Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition and the more muscular Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Yesterday, the company announced the most powerful variant ever—the 717-horsepower 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition.

Please take a moment to catch your breath after saying that name out loud…

This model is inspired from the famous 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona with its huge wing and massive nose specifically designed to dominate in NASCAR racing. Only 501 copies were built (the minimum number required to qualify for use on the NASCAR circuit) and the 2020 version will have a similarly limited production run.

A unique “Daytona” decklid, rear-quarter decal with matching spoiler and Daytona-exclusive B5 Blue paint are throwbacks to the original (other available body colours include Pitch Black, Triple Nickel and White Knuckle).

Completing the athletic look are unique 20x11-inch “Warp Speed” wheels with a Satin Carbon finish, Pirelli 305/35ZR20 all-season performance tires and ultra-high-performance Brembo brakes with vented rotors and six-piston front, four-piston rear callipers.

Daytona cues are also seamlessly integrated into the interior with unique black heated and ventilated Nappa leather and Alcantara suede performance seats with blue accent stitching and “Daytona” embroidered seatbacks. The blue accent stitching appears throughout the interior, on the centre console armrest, door panels and armrest, dashboard and shifter.

A Dynamica Suede headliner, real carbon fibre instrument panel (IP) and console bezels and Light Black Chrome interior accents are paired to the suede-trimmed, flat-bottom steering wheel, which features dual blue and silver accent stitching. Premium velour-bound floor mats have a blue dual stitched accent border. Both the steering wheel and floor mats are only available on the Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, shift points are increased to 6,100 rpm in automatic mode, which yields a 10-horsepower boost from 707 to 717 exclusive to this model.

The new 2020 Dodge Charger Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition makes its public debut this weekend during the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Pontiac, Michigan. Pricing has yet to be announced. Dealer orders for the entire 2020 Charger lineup open this fall and deliveries will start early next year.
