2020 Toyota C-HR Gets a Second Update in as Many Years

Published on October 1, 2019 in News by Guillaume Rivard

The Toyota C-HR sub-compact crossover benefits from a cosmetic update and a few new features for 2020.

Clearly, the automaker wants to make sure the C-HR stays in tune with the ever-changing needs of the young customers it primarily targets. A first update was made for 2019, barely one year after the model’s initial launch.

This time, we’re talking about a redesigned front fascia, headlights, bumper and grille. The LE trim joins the XLE Premium and Limited with standard LED headlamps. The Limited debuts a new 18-inch alloy wheel design.

The colourful C-HR also adds two body paint options including Supersonic Red and Hot Lava (orange), which is available only with the black roof. The white roof is now discontinued and replaced with a new silver roof for the Black Sand Pearl body colour.

Inside the 2020 Toyota C-HR, the infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto in addition to Apple CarPlay which was already available. Customers can also enjoy a three-month SiriusXM satellite radio trial on the Limited trim.

More interesting than the new Grey headliner for the LE and Limited models are the two new available interior colour combinations: blue/black on XLE Premium and brown/black/silver on Limited.

The top-line C-HR further stands out with a new eight-way power driver’s seat and Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) with headlamp auto-leveling.

There are no changes under the hood. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine still produces 144 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque. This is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission that offers a simulated seven-speed sequential Shiftmatic feature and even a Sport mode. Fuel consumption is rated at 8.7 L/100 km in the city and 7.5 L/100 km on the highway.

Pricing for the 2020 Toyota C-HR has yet to be announced.
