2020 Subaru Impreza and Crosstrek Refreshed for More Value
For 2020, Subaru has made a number of revisions to two of its most popular vehicles, namely the Impreza compact sedan and hatchback, plus the Crosstrek sub-compact crossover.
Despite the addition of new features, the former still costs less than $20,000 and retains the title of Canada’s most affordable AWD car.

2020 Subaru Impreza
The Impreza exterior receives an updated front bumper cover and grille design. More importantly, all models equipped with the Lineartronic CVT come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic pre-collision braking and lane keeping assist.
The SI-DRIVE powertrain performance management system, which allows the driver to tailor the vehicle’s throttle characteristics by choosing between “Intelligent” and “Sport” modes, is found on CVT-equipped models, too.
Also new for 2020 is the available Rear Seat Reminder, a system designed to help prevent child or pet entrapment by alerting the driver to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle, along with automatic power door locks with a collision detection unlock function.
On every Impreza except the base trim level, SUBARU STARLINK allows users to stay connected and remotely control some of the car’s functions, plan service appointments and receive safety notifications or navigation instructions to a particular point of interest. With available SOS emergency assistance, enhanced roadside assistance and automatic collision notification, it works kind of like GM’s OnStar.
The Touring model gets new 16-inch alloy wheels, a 6.3-inch multi-function colour display, LED fog lights and a proximity key with push-button start.
The 2020 Subaru Impreza sedan costs $19,995 in Convenience trim with the five-speed manual transmission (freight and delivery not included). Once again, you must pay another $1,000 for the comparable hatchback. The top-line Sport-tech model starts at $30,795.
2020 Subaru Crosstrek
Meanwhile, the brand’s small crossover bolsters its standard content with automatic climate control, the new Rear Seat Reminder, automatic power door locks with a collision detection unlock function, as well as updated taillights. Magnetite Grey Metallic and Pure Red were added to the exterior colour selection.
Similar to the Impreza, all Crosstrek models equipped with the Lineartronic CVT come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology and the Subaru SI-DRIVE selector. The Touring gets new features such as SUBARU STARLINK, LED fog lights and a proximity key with push-button start.
Pricing for the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek starts at $23,795 for a manual Convenience model and climbs all the way to $33,895 for a fully loaded Limited model. Still no word on the equipment level and price point of the upcoming Crosstrek PHEV, which is due for late 2019.
