This Hot Wheels Camaro is Worth Over $132,000

Hot Wheels typically cost two bucks apiece, so it’s hard to imagine one that could be worth more than $100,000 USD ($133,000 CAD).

That’s the case of this Hot Wheels Chevrolet Camaro manufactured by Mattel in Hong Kong in 1967.

The enamel white variant is a prototype because with all new cars, designers would coat them with an enamel white coat to check for imperfections. Only a few were known to be mistakenly packaged and released to retailers, according to a press release.

That’s what makes it so rare—and valuable, apparently.

The car was found amongst a larger collection and its authenticity has been confirmed by a Hot Wheels expert following an up-close examination. As you can see on the pictures, it has endured the effects of time.

Road & Track reports that the current owner, an American collector by the name of Joel Magee, doesn’t intend to sell the precious Hot Wheels Camaro and make a fortune out of it. Rather, he plans to show the car at upcoming toy fairs and appraisal events throughout the U.S.

“I’ve collected toys forever and this Hot Wheels Camaro is the Holy Grail of collectibles,” Magee said. “I am beyond excited to have found it to add to my vast collection. This car is so extremely rare that there is only one known example which is this one. Imagine something that originally sold for 59 cents now being worth upwards of $100,000! Wow!”

If Magee did sell it, however, it would join the ranks of the famous Hot Wheels Volkswagen Microbus that had an estimated worth anywhere between $130,000 and $200,000 CAD.
