2021 Hyundai Elantra GT Unveiled Ahead of Geneva Show
Hyundai has completely taken the wraps off of the new i30 (our Elantra GT) before its world premiere at the 2020 Geneva Auto Show next week.
Physically, the Korean hatchback is characterized by a wider-looking, more modern stance. It inherits the spectacular grille from the new Sonata and redesigned headlights with a V-shaped LED signature reminiscent of the Elantra sedan. The corners of the front bumper sport a different look following the revision of the foglight housings.

In the rear, the changes are not quite as striking. Essentially, they come down to a redesigned bumper and taillights. Furthermore, new body colours and wheels will be available.
Once again, Hyundai is offering a sportier N Line trim (the red car you see on the pictures). The front air intakes are now larger, the wheels are more stylish and the new rear bumper incorporates a bigger diffuser along with dual exhaust tips on the right side. Tuning for the suspension and steering has been optimized, as well.
The interior of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra GT also gets some new colours, more modern air vents, a new seven-inch digital cluster and a new 10.25-inch navigation touchscreen. At some point, the company says, wireless phone mirroring will be introduced, meaning customers won’t need a cable to connect their phone and use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. BlueLink connected car services will be available, too.
The Hyundai SmartSense suite of advanced safety features has been enhanced. For example, the rear Blind Spot Detection system not only warns the driver if there’s another vehicle in their blind spot, but it can also activate the engine brake in order to avoid a collision. Front Collision-Avoidance Assistance now has the ability to recognize bicycles on the road.
As for powertrains, Hyundai is mentioning a few additions to the lineup in Europe including a 48V mild hybrid system. We’ll have to wait for details regarding the Canadian market, however. At the moment, a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine producing 161 horsepower (Elantra GT) and a turbocharged 1.6-litre unit rated at 201 horsepower (Elantra GT N Line) can be specified.
