Batmobile Morphs Into a Muscle Car for the Next Batman

After Fast and Furious 9 (May 22) and No Time to Die (pushed back to November due to coronavirus concerns), car enthusiasts will get an eyeful on the big screen with the release of The Batman in June 2021.

We’re talking about the Batmobile, of course, which will be reinvented yet another time. In a move to tease fans, director Matt Reeves yesterday posted three promotional shots on his Twitter account.

Unlike the stealth fighter-style Batmobile from the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League movies, or the apocalyptic Tumbler that starred in the Dark Knight trilogy, the crime-fighting machine that actor Robert Pattinson will drive in the next film looks much more like a real automobile.

In fact, it harks back to the glorious era of muscle cars… except for the massive, fully exposed engine in the rear. We don’t know how powerful it is, but the braces added to the chassis definitely seem like a wise idea.

Make no mistake: this Batmobile is undoubtedly littered with gadgets, ammo and protection, but it’s the kind of car we’d totally want to take to a drag strip or around a track for some hot laps. It will surely help launch the Batman franchise in a new direction and maybe even make new fans.
