Gemballa’s Insane Porsche 911 Off-roader is a Go

After making a big splash with an 818-horsepower Porsche 911 last year, German tuner Gemballa is now focusing on a more extreme variant of the iconic sports coupe.

Extreme how? Well, this one will be an insane, Dakar-style off-roader. Seriously.

The idea dates back to 2016, but the design stayed in the drawer for a long time, the company admits. Now, the time has come to bring it to life: the Porsche 911 Avalanche 4x4 will be officially unveiled later this year with plans for an exclusive, small production run.

The car you see here is based on the previous-generation 911 (991), but Gemballa claims conversion kits will be available for the next-generation 911 (992), as well.

Quite frankly, we don’t know what’s more outrageous: the beefy all-terrain tires or the gigantic rear wing? The Avalanche 4x4 also features a heavily vented hood, air intakes on the roof and a completely revised suspension that increases ground clearance and wheel travel. The bumpers and body sides are significantly redesigned, too, mainly to achieve superior approach and departure angles in off-road driving.

As for the engine, Gemballa’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre six-cylinder will likely motivate the Avalanche 4x4 (818 horsepower, 809 pound-feet of torque), although the tuner is reportedly working on raising output to 1,000 horsepower by this summer.

If Lamborghini could just build that awesome Huracán Sterrato concept, we’d have an epic duel!
