Tesla Cybertruck Can be Any Colour You Want, Elon Musk Says
What’s going on with the Tesla Cybertruck these days? It’s been a while since the most polarizing pickup ever created last made headlines.
The storm that followed its November launch has now faded away and the company has more pressing things to worry about, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yet, the Cybertruck came back in the spotlight this week for two reasons. First, the city of Joplin, Missouri is offering a package of incentives and savings totalling over $1 billion USD to hopefully convince Tesla to build its Cybertruck factory there.
Furthermore, just after Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla’s brand new Gigafactory in Berlin will have the most advanced paint shop in the world, “with more layers of stunning colors that subtly change with curvature,” one user directly asked the CEO whether the Cybertruck will come in different colours than steel.
His response? “You will be able to wrap it in any color or pattern.”

Now, you need to understand two things. The Cybertruck’s body is entirely made of cold-rolled stainless steel and applying paint to this material is typically a challenging and costly affair. Also, Musk referred to a wrap, which is another way of dressing up a vehicle and quite popular among car tuners.
However, he failed to clarify whether this will be a factory option—with an infinite number of colours—or something customers will have to handle themselves.
The great thing with wraps is that you can easily change the look of the body anytime you want. On the other hand, the operation can be expensive.
Tesla still has plenty of time to work on that and make an official announcement, mind you, as Cybertruck production is set to begin in late 2021.
