COVID-19: MINI Launches Virtual Meetups to Bring Fans Together

Published on May 11, 2020 in News by Guillaume Rivard

In order to promote togetherness and lift everyone’s spirits during these tough times we’re going through, MINI is launching a series of community events called MINI Virtual Meetups for family, friends and fans of the brand from across Canada and around the world.

These special events start today with a MINI-style photo scavenger hunt and will stretch to the end of the month.

“MINI is an emotional and highly-human brand with a close connection to its customer and fan base,” said Mat Sayer, director of MINI Canada. “Members of the MINI family love connection and love being together. In the absence of that possibility, the Virtual Meetups are a way for us to bring everyone together and provide them with a unique source of entertainment and escape. I can’t wait to see what the MINI community brings to the table.”

Cooper’s Corner is sure to attract a lot of fans, offering live-stream interviews with influential characters from MINI’s 60-year history—all hosted by none other than Charlie Cooper, grandson of John Cooper. On May 17, Charlie will speak with his father Mike about building the John Cooper Works legacy. A week later, he will be joined by Frank Stephenson, the car designer who played a pivotal role in MINI’s 2001 reboot.

Fitness personality Cassie Day will host a live exercise class on May 13, while celebrity chef and many-times-over MINI owner Lynn Crawford will show you how to cook one of her signature recipes on May 26. A drive-in at home is also being arranged for May 22 as a Netflix screening party (hopefully with the classic movie The Italian Job).
