Swedish electric car maker Polestar has just unveiled Canadian pricing for the highly anticipated Polestar 2, its most affordable and all-electric model.

The car will start at $69,900, which is actually cheaper than in the U.S. ($59,900) given the current exchange rates.

“We are proud to offer a premium electric vehicle at such a competitive price--the combination of which we feel has a great opportunity in the Canadian marketplace,” said Hugues Bissonette, Head of Polestar Canada. “Based on the extremely positive reaction from the market, we expect strong sales throughout Canada.”

The Polestar 2 is a five-door, fastback-style vehicle that originally made its debut in February 2019. It generates 408 horsepower and 487 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to the Canadian MSRP, Polestar also announced option pricing as follows:

While the ordering process is fully digital, the brand will soon open Polestar Spaces in Montreal (the first in all of North America), Toronto and Vancouver. These physical retail showrooms will host non-commissioned Polestar Specialists to assist customers with product information and test drives.

Deliveries to Canadian reservation holders will begin in late summer 2020. As previously reported, the Polestar 2 entered production in Luqiao, China on March 24.
