Refreshed 2022 Hyundai Kona, New Kona N Line to Pack Even More Style

In less than three years, the Hyundai Kona has managed to land among the top 5 best-selling SUVs in Canada. It’s the very definition of an instant hit and more success will come in the next few years.

How so? Well, just look at the teasers for the refreshed 2022 Hyundai Kona, including the sportier new Kona N Line.

While details are scarce at this point, the company is talking about a “wider stance and a shark-inspired nose that gives the model a sleeker look.” The grille design evolves along with the daytime running lights (which are much more attractive), while a front skid plate is added to the lower bumper.

It’s safe to assume many of the cosmetic changes will also apply to the Kona Electric.

Naturally, the Kona N Line will feature racier styling and improved aerodynamics. Designers focused on a “low-set air intake and more aggressive front bumper, complemented by corner fins and lean crease lines.” Look for bigger wheels, more powerful brakes and a more aggressive-sounding exhaust system, too—similar to the new Elantra N Line.

And just like this sporty sedan, we expect to find a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine with 201 horsepower under the hood. Not enough for you? Remember, a fast and furious 275-horsepower Kona N is reportedly in the works.

Hyundai promises to reveal more information about the new 2022 Kona and Kona N Line in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the 2021 model is on sale at Hyundai dealers across Canada with a new Urban Edition package including a two-tone body, front and side skirts, plus 18-inch BBS wheels.
