All-new Acura MDX Prototype to be Revealed This Month
While still a strong seller, the Acura MDX is definitely in need of new blood. The current generation dates back to 2014 and minor revisions were made for 2017.
We originally expected the fourth-generation MDX to debut as a 2021 model, but it will instead hit the market next year as a 2022 model. Curious to see what it will look like? Acura today released a mini-teaser for the new MDX Prototype that will be introduced on October 14.

Typically, what the company calls “prototypes” are not fancy concepts but rather near-production vehicles—as was the case in recent years with the new RDX and TLX. The press release mentions “the most ambitious redesign of its 3-row luxury SUV of yet.”
The short clip below shows a longer and wider MDX with a lower stance and more dynamic silhouette overall:
At the same time, Acura hints at unprecedented levels of performance and technology, which adds further credibility to reports saying the MDX will get a sporty Type S variant.
“Acura is committed to its performance roots and this next-generation MDX will deliver an exceptional experience behind the wheel. It is the most refined, technological advanced and sophisticated SUV in our history,” said Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President at Acura Canada.
Come back on October 14 for more details and pictures of the new Acura MDX.
