New Acura MDX Interior Teased Ahead of Debut

One week after revealing the silhouette of the fourth-generation MDX Prototype, Acura is teasing the interior which promises to be the most upscale and technologically advanced in MDX history.

The first observation is that the layout is quite similar to that of the new 2021 Acura TLX, which we finally got to drive recently—did you catch our review?

The centre console (with the touchpad, handrest and all), control stack (with buttons instead of a traditional shifter and more for the drive modes) and wide, high-definition screen at the top are almost a carbon copy of the redesigned compact sedan.

The dashboard design and accents, however, seem to create a sharper separation between the driver and front passenger. Of course, this being a utility vehicle, storage is more generous. Acura promises rich materials, including authentic open-pore wood and hand-wrapped leather with French stitching, as well as a better view of the road ahead than in the outgoing MDX.

Next-generation seats with gradient perforation and high-contrast stitching and piping await occupants. Comfort will be improved especially in the first row thanks to available multi-mode massage functionality.

Other highlights include the Acura Precision Cockpit all-digital instrument panel, 25-speaker "Signature Edition" ELS Studio 3D premium audio system and integrated LED ambient lighting.

The official introduction of the new Acura MDX Prototype will take place October 14, so we’ll have more details and pictures to share at that time. As for the production model, it will debut early next year.
