2021 Nissan Versa Pricing Announced, Undercuts Kicks

So, how much does the all-new 2021 Nissan Versa cost? We now have the answer as the company has just announced Canadian pricing.

With the elimination of the Versa Note hatchback and the tiny Micra, Nissan customers would have been left with no sub-compact car and forced to turn to the more expensive Kicks crossover or Sentra compact sedan.

However, the Versa is back in Canada—exclusively as a four-door sedan like in the U.S.—and priced from $16,498 in base S trim with the five-speed manual transmission. That’s not counting freight and delivery charges of $1,670.

A premium of $1,500 is required for the optional Xtronic CVT, which by the way is the only transmission you can have in the more upscale SV and SR models. These two start at $19,498 and $20,998, respectively.

The 2021 Nissan Versa is therefore cheaper than the Kicks ($19,298) even though both models rely on the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 122 horsepower. The small crossover is not available with a manual gearbox, mind you, and it also has a much bigger trunk—716 litres versus 425 litres for the Versa.

Average fuel consumption ranges from 6.7-7.7 L/100 km depending on the choice of transmission. The Kicks is right in the middle of that ballpark with a rating of 7.2 L/100 km.

If you plan to lease or buy a 2021 Nissan Versa, you should also know that six exterior colours are offered including Electric Blue Metallic (pictured here) and Scarlet Ember.

Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic rear braking, lane departure warning and high beam assist. SV and SR grades add blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Meanwhile, all 2021 Versa models feature push-button start, seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth audio streaming, Siri Eyes Free and hands-free SMS assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only available in the two higher grades.

The top-line Versa SR stands out with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, rear spoiler, unique cloth seating, remote start and more.
