2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio Bring Back Sprint Nameplate
Building on the 2020 model year update, the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio return with more standard equipment and a simplified model lineup for 2021.
The number of trim levels has been cut from seven to four: Sprint, Ti, Ti Sport and Quadrifoglio. Four new body colours are available including Ocra GT Junior, Rosso GTA, Rosso Villa d'Este and Verde Montreal. Meanwhile, there are fewer available content packages.

Return of the Sprint
Harkening back to the 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA, the new entry-level Sprint model boasts a long list of standard features such as Brembo front brakes, heated leather front seats with 10-way power adjustments, remote start, keyless entry, 8.8-inch multi-touch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus Forward Collision Warning with Full-Speed Stop.
The Sprint trim features the Alfa Q4 AWD system as standard. New content packages include a Performance Package (limited-slip differential, steering-column-mounted aluminum paddle shifters), Sun & Sound Package (dual-pane sunroof, 10-speaker audio) and Active Assist I Package, which features Active Blind-spot Assist, automatic-dimming exterior mirrors, Front and Rear Park Assist sensors, adaptive cruise control with full-speed stop and go, automatic high-beam headlamp control and Lane Departure Warning.
Better Equipped Ti and Ti Sport Models
New for 2021, standard equipment on the Giulia Ti and Stelvio Ti includes a dual-pane sunroof and on Stelvio a hands-free liftgate. Both models also feature the Active Assist II Package as standard (Driver attention alert, Infrared windshield, Automatic high beam headlamp control, Adaptive cruise control, Intelligent speed assist, Highway assist, Lane keep assist, Traffic sign recognition, Traffic Jam assist and Active blind-spot assist).
For the Giulia Ti Sport and Stelvio Ti Sport, new standard features for 2021 include a limited-slip differential, dark exhaust tips, wireless charging pad and heated rear seats. The Stelvio Ti Sport also adds a standard sport rear diffuser and 20-inch sport alloy wheels (21-inch wheels are optional).
Same Engines, Plug-in Hybrid Coming Soon
The base engine is still the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque, while the twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 in the almighty Quadrifoglio models continues to unleash 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.
The 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio will begin arriving at Canadian showrooms before the end of this year. Pricing for the sedan ranges from $52,495-$93,395, while the SUV ranges from $54,595-$98,995.
What about the Alfa Romeo Tonale, a plug-in hybrid SUV previewed by a similarly named concept from 2019? It’s slated to enter production in 2021. More details will be announced in the coming months.
