Today at Auto Shanghai 2021 in China, Honda showed a small electric SUV prototype that many Canadian drivers would likely find interesting.

Few details were provided by the automaker, however. For sure, the similarities with the next-generation Honda HR-V are striking.

Will it come to our shores? Nothing is more uncertain at this point. A production model will launch in China in the spring of 2022. Over there, Honda plans to introduce 10 electric vehicles in the next five years.

Also at Auto Shanghai 2021, Honda presented a new plug-in hybrid model that’s set to hit the Chinese market later this year. Once again, we don’t know much about it.

In Canada, the company has no fully electric vehicle in its lineup, though it has one PHEV (Clarity) and two regular hybrids (Accord Hybrid and Insight).
