Indian Workplace Violence Leads to Idling Ford Plant

Published on October 27, 2009 in News by Dan Fritter

A recent altercation between Indian labourers and management in an auto parts plants has left Ford’s crossover plant idle.

After persistent troubles and issues involving fired labourers and a striking work force, it came to blows as the striking workforce marched towards a group of men acting “at the behest” of the plant’s management. Tragically, a 26 year old labourer was killed in the ensuing fight. Not surprisingly, operations have not resumed.

This has created a parts shortage, forcing Ford to idle the Oakville, Ontario plant that produces their Flex and Edge as well as Lincoln’s MKT and MKX. There are currently no plans in place to find a new supplier.
