Watch: Rimac C_Two Sets Incredible Quarter-Mile Record
While it failed to take over control of Bugatti, which recently ended up in the hands of Porsche, Croatian hypercar manufacturer Rimac has something its French rival will sure be jealous of.
More than three years after the C-Two made its debut as a concept in Geneva, a pre-production model set a new mark for the fastest-accelerating road car on the quarter mile.

The feat, which took place at an unused airfield in Croatia with company founder Mate Rimac behind the wheel, was recorded using Racebox and Dragy systems and captured in the following video:
In one of the runs, with Track mode activated and Michelin Pilot Sport tires wrapping the wheels, the C_Two completed the distance in an incredible 8.94 seconds at a speed of 248.14 km/h. That’s a few tenths quicker than the Bugatti Chiron Sport’s 9.4 seconds, not to mention the new McLaren 765LT’s 9.33 seconds from earlier this year.
In case you’re wondering, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon had a quarter-mile time of 9.65 seconds, while the newly announced Tesla Model S Plaid+ is said by Elon Musk to achieve a time of 9.23 seconds.
The Rimac C_Two features four electric motors and generates a total of 1,914 horsepower along with 1,696 pound-feet of torque. According to the company, the car is “really, really close” to entering production, and the final performance numbers could be improved by up to 10-15 percent.
The production model will be sold under a different name and deliveries are scheduled to begin later in 2021.
