First Photos of New Volvo S60

To say this isn’t your parents’ Volvo would be an understatement.

Once considered a rival of such stupendous vehicles as the BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-Class, the Volvo S60 sedan faded into obscurity a few short years later after numerous competitor updates left it lagging behind. Lasting a whopping nine years, the first generation S60 boasted all the earmarks of Volvo design: safety, decent performance, and handsome looks... but none in any surprising quantity.

This second generation S60 appears capable of changing that. With curvaceous and striking bodywork that shares the new Volvo styling cues first seen on the XC60, few details have been released. It is expected to share its powerplants with the XC60 all-roader, albeit with a sportier suspension underneath. As for the possibility of an uprated R-model; well, that’s anyone’s guess.
