2022 Porsche Taycan to Offer More Connectivity and Customization

The 2022 Porsche Taycan, including the sedan and the new Cross Turismo wagon, will go on sale this fall with a number of improvements that drivers and Porsche enthusiasts will surely appreciate.

First, Android Auto is now also integrated to the infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay. There’s no wireless integration, however, so you’ll have to plug in your smartphone via the USB-C port. Speaking of infotainment, the layout and operating system have been revamped slightly: there are now five menu options instead of three on the left side of the centre display and the icons can be arranged individually.

The Voice Pilot voice assistant has been enhanced, too. Porsche claims it understands instructions in everyday language even better. Meanwhile, the navigation system calculates more quickly and also displays its information more clearly thanks to redesigned graphics.

Another technological upgrade that’s definitely worth mentioning is the new Remote Park Assist option. Drivers can remotely control parking manoeuvres via their smartphone when getting in and out of parking spaces—no need to sit behind the wheel. Automatic control is possible for both parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and garages. You’ll be glad to have this option whenever there’s too little space between the driver’s door and the wall or another vehicle.

What’s more, Porsche has further improved the thermal management and charging functions of the Taycan. With the Turbo Charging Planner, the high-voltage battery can now be heated to a slightly higher temperature so fast charging is possible earlier and at a higher charge level, further reducing charging times. Also, excess heat from the electrical components is used to an even greater extent for battery temperature regulation in cold weather. We’ll have to wait and see if that increases the 2022 Taycan’s official range in any way.

Finally, via the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur customization program, the Taycan is now available with Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus options in addition to 17 standard body colours. The first option offers a choice of 65 additional colours including Moonlight Blue Metallic, Acid Green and a classic from the 1990s, Rubystar. The second option gives customers almost complete freedom in their choice of colour.

Canadian pricing for the 2022 Porsche Taycan will be announced closer to launch.
