The Lexus GX is really not the first name that comes to mind when talking about midsize luxury SUVs. In fact, you might have forgotten it even exists. That being said, the company has made some notable changes for 2022, and the model will go on sale across Canada in September.

First, the GX 460 Signature Package (starting at $71,700) offers a new entry point to the GX lineup. It features 18-inch alloy wheels, nine-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory system, heated outboard second-row seats, rear climate control and power moonroof.

Another new addition is the limited-production GX 460 Black Line Edition ($75,550). As the name implies, this one boasts gloss black wheels, unique roof rails and cross bars, black chrome spindle grille, dark grey bumper and fog lamp garnish as well as black window frames. Inside, several surfaces are covered in two-tone black Nuluxe upholstery with grey-coloured bolster inserts and stitching. There’s also a black headliner and matte black ash wood trim on the steering wheel.

Two more packages are available including Premium ($79,650) and Executive ($83,350). In all cases, the engine is the same 4.6-litre V8 engine that produces 301 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 2,948 kilograms (6,500 pounds).

What else is new? Well, the 2022 Lexus GX now features a 10.3-inch touchscreen and navigation with Remote Connect across the line. Additional enhancements to the multimedia system include full compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Oh, and Lexus added Caviar Metallic to the available body colour choices on the Signature, Premium and Executive trim levels.
