The Volkswagen Tiguan is getting a mid-cycle update for the 2022 model year. As previously reported, the changes are mostly cosmetic, with a revised front fascia, some tweaks in the rear and a more modern interior featuring the next generation of Volkswagen’s infotainment system.

All four trim levels are powered by the returning 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. For 2022, 4MOTION all-wheel drive is included as standard and paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Yesterday, Volkswagen Canada announced full pricing details for the 2022 Tiguan. The base Trendline model starts at $32,995 plus $1,950 freight and PDI. It features an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 6.5-inch centre touchscreen, 17-inch alloy wheels along with heated seats and steering wheel. You can add a third row for an extra $800.

This one gets 18-inch alloys, keyless start, power liftgate, 10.25-inch instrument cluster, 8.0-inch touchscreen and several driver assistance technologies such as Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance), Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System) and Emergency Assist. A panoramic sunroof is available for $1,500.

One rung above is the Comfortline R-Model Black Edition at $39,495. It’s a sportier-looking Tiguan with 19-inch wheels, black accents and “R-Line” badges, not to mention 15-colour ambient lighting and an R-Line heated perforated leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with touch controls.

At the top of the ladder, you’ll find the Tiguan Highline R-Line. Priced from $42,995, it adds 20-inch silver alloy wheels, an illuminated light line in the grille, LED signature headlights with the Adaptive Front-Lighting System and integrated cornering and poor weather lights, Park Distance Control with Park Assist, 360-degree Overhead View Camera, Dynamic Road Sign Recognition, Discover Media MIB3 infotainment, heated and ventilated sport seats up front, an Easy Open/Easy Close power liftgate and more.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan will arrive at Canadian dealerships this October.
