Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Get More Upgrades for 2022

Published on September 30, 2021 in News by Guillaume Rivard

The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban were completely redesigned and vastly improved for the 2021 model year, which earned them a Best Buy award from The Car Guide. However, General Motors doesn’t want to give the competition any chance to catch up, so a series of upgrades is in store for 2022.

First, the popular 6.2-litre V8 engine (420 hp) is now available in RST, Z71 and Premier trim. It of course remains standard on the High Country model.

Next, both SUVs can be equipped with a new electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD). If wheel slip is detected on either side of the vehicle, eLSD reacts quickly to shift power to the wheel with better traction. Exclusive to the off-road focused Z71 trim, eLSD also can be used in 4WD Low to help prevent wheelslip in dirt and mud.

Following the lead of the Silverado full-size pickup, the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban benefit from improved towing technology. They now offer up to 13 available unique camera views, including transparent trailer view which helps you virtually “see through” a connected, compatible trailer when your truck is properly equipped. Additional new trailering views include a rear trailer view with reverse guidelines, a picture-in-picture side view, and a view inside a trailer when an accessory camera is connected.

Furthermore, all models except the base LS receive a new, larger 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster as standard, along with available Google services built in (Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play). Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility continues to be offered, naturally.

Finally, safety is enhanced for 2022 with two active safety features now standard across all trims: Front and Rear Park Assist as well as Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Oh, and customers have a choice of three new exterior colours: Evergreen Gray Metallic, Auburn Metallic and Dark Ash Metallic.

Production of the 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban is set to start in October. Pricing details will be announced shortly.
