2022 Ford Mustang Gets Stealth Edition, More Special Treatment
The current-generation Ford Mustang is set to bow out with the 2022 model, but don’t be sad: the company has a few surprises in store. It starts with two special editions and packages that were announced today.
For the first time ever, the Mustang will add a Stealth Edition Appearance Package based on the 310-horsepower, four-cylinder EcoBoost Premium coupe. Slightly different from the existing Black Accent Package ($1,600), this edition gives the Mustang a more menacing look with uniquely blacked-out appointments.

The list includes 19-inch Ebony Black-painted aluminum wheels, black pony badges, performance rear wing, black mirror caps and new clear LED taillight covers, also shared with the new Mustang Ice White Appearance Package. Inside, there’s a matte and gloss black instrument panel badge along with lighted sill plates.
The Stealth Edition is available in Atlas Blue, Carbonized Gray, Dark Matter (blue) and Shadow Black.
Also announced today, the updated 2022 Mustang GT equipped with the California Special Appearance Package pays homage to the original version’s blacked-out grille, side racing stripes and rear fender scoops.
The heritage-inspired “GT/CS” side stripes trace from the front fenders to the signature rear fender scoops. A California Special badge in Ebony Black and Race Red script adorns the trunk lid, while the honeycomb grille with “GT/CS” badge provides a unique look.
A larger front splitter, performance rear wing (coupe only), unique five-spoke 19-inch painted machined wheels and signature strut tower brace with California Special badge atop the 5.0-litre V8 engine are other highlights. The suede-trimmed seats feature red contrast stitching and embossed “GT/CS” logo just like the floor mats.
What’s more, the GT Performance Package is now available to make this the best-handling, most capable California Special ever. Look for six-piston Brembo brake callipers up front, heavy-duty front springs, larger tubular rear sway bar, overall lower ride height, unique chassis reinforcements, Torsen limited-slip differential and wider rear wheels. The stability control and electric power steering systems benefit from unique tuning, as well.
Orders for the 2022 Ford Mustang, including the Stealth Edition and California Special, open later this year. The cars are due in showrooms in the first quarter of 2022.
